The Kitsap Pumas announced today the signing of defensive midfielder Trevor Jensen. The Chula Vista, California, native joins the Pumas squad for the third consecutive season, looking to use his experience to help lead the club to another Premier Development League (PDL) title.
After being signed to the 2014 squad from the invitational tryouts, Jensen was initially used as a versatile substitute to help grind out difficult results. However, his consistent play and gritty defensive prowess quickly made him a staple of the Pumas midfield.
Over the past two seasons, the Pumas have gone an impressive 23-4-6 in all competitions and haven’t lost at home.
During that span, Jensen has featured in 30 games, scoring three goals and adding one assist en route to helping the club claim consecutive Ruffneck Cups, consecutive Northwest Division titles, a Western Conference title and an appearance in the PDL national final.
Last season, Jensen featured in 11 divisional fixtures for a total of 905 minutes, ranking him fifth on the team in minutes as well as receiving a PDL Team of the Week honorable mention.
While the Pumas have had a staggering amount of success recently and have certainly cemented their position as one of the elite clubs in the PDL in the process, they are still yet to reclaim the PDL title they won back in 2011.
“Playing for Kitsap the last two seasons has been unbelievable,” Jensen said. “I am so excited for the season to finally begin, and I want to thank the club for continuing to believe in me. We have been so close to bringing that PDL title back to Kitsap the past two seasons, and this year, I look forward to doing my part to finally make that happen.”
