BREMERTON, Wash. – Coming off of a productive off-season, Kitsap Pumas will face a stern test as they welcome Seattle Stars to Gordon Field on Friday [7:00 p.m. PT, follow @KitsapPumas].
Both teams will be eager to get back on the field for the first time this year and after falling 2-1 to Kitsap in their preseason opener last season, Seattle will be looking for some redemption this time around.
Kitsap head coach Cameron MacDonald believes that the game will provide a valuable opportunity to evaluate some potential signings.
“It’s great to get a game in this early,” said MacDonald. “We are grateful to Seattle for taking on the match and I’m excited to get a look at some of the guys we’ve been talking with in a match environment.”
Seattle fans will recognize a familiar face on the other side of the ball as former Star Buba Findi signed with Kitsap after impressing in this game last year. Findi appeared in 8 matches for Kitsap last season, recording 669 minutes.
The Stars are coming off of a seventh place finish (3-8-3, 12 pts) in the 2015 Evergreen Premier League, an elite adult men’s amateur soccer league for college and post-college age players, will be hoping a match against a professional side will help ready their squad
Kitsap will play without a number of signed players, preferring to use the game as an opportunity to look at some younger players from around the Northwest.
