BREMERTON, Wash. — The Kitsap Pumas have signed forward Hamza Haddadi for the 2016 season, the club announced today. Haddadi played four seasons in college for Seattle University, scoring 25 goals and adding 11 assists.
“We’re excited to have Hamza this season,” Pumas head coach Cameron MacDonald said. “Every top-level team needs a proven goalscorer, and he has shown that he can put the ball in the goal.”
Haddadi, who played for former Pumas coach Pete Fewing and with former Kitsap forward Miguel González at Seattle U, was on trial with Seattle Sounders 2 earlier this preseason. He also played three years for Washington Crossfire in the PDL Northwest Division, scoring several times against the Pumas.
His collegiate highlights included tying the Western Athletic Conference single-game record with four goals in 6-0 win over UC Davis on Aug. 28, 2015, as well as scoring the only goal of the game against UCLA to make the NCAA Tournament round of 16 three months later.
“I’m excited to start my professional career with the Pumas,” Haddadi said. “I hope to use it as a step towards the highest levels of soccer in the country.”
