SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — On a windy night and on a bouncy turf field, the Kitsap Pumas kept a second clean sheet to start the season and drew 0-0 at Lane United. Goalkeeper Matt Grosey made a series of key stops, including a double-save in the second half, to keep Lane off the score sheet.
The Pumas had the majority of scoring chances, including when forward Hamza Haddadi smacked the crossbar on a volley from distance. Center back Rene De Zorzi also made a last-second tackle inside the penalty area in the 82nd minute to preserve the draw.
Pumas captain and center back Cory Keitz received a straight red card in the second half and will be suspended for the club’s match on Monday at Washington Crossfire. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. PT at Redmond High School in Redmond, Wash.
