CALGARY, Alta. — The Kitsap Pumas traveled north of the border for a pair of games against the Calgary Foothills, drawing 0-0 on June 24 and 26. Goalkeeper Matt Grosey and his defense now have six shutouts on the season between PDL league play and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The Pumas were on the front foot for the majority of both games, testing Calgary’s back line on multiple occasions. On both days, Kitsap came inches away from a victory, denied either by spectacular saves from Foothills goalkeeper Dylon Powley or by barely missing the target.
With the two points gutted out on the road, Kitsap sits in sixth place on seven points in the league table, one ahead of the Portland Timbers U23.
The Pumas now finish the regular season with four straight games at home, beginning on Wednesday against the Seattle Sounders U23. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Gordon Field. It will be the first home game for Kitsap in over a month.
