Here are three things to know about Kitsap Soccer Club’s opponent in its upcoming friendly on Saturday night, Harbor Soccer Club of Gig Harbor:
1, Harbor SC, a club soccer program based in Gig Harbor, was founded in 1982, but this is the first year for the men’s team facing Kitsap SC on Saturday night. The team, which is not yet affiliated with any league, was created in part to give its coaches a chance to continue playing the game.
2, The team’s roster features players who have played collegiate and semipro soccer and figures to be led by Machael David, a former member of U23 sides with the MLS’ Seattle Sounders and Colorado Rapids. (He was selected by the Sounders in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft.) David also played for Gig Harbor High School and the UC Santa Barbara.
3, Harbor SC coach Tim Duffy has been coaching soccer around Puget Sound for 30 years, leading teams to seven state cup finals – winning five – in that time. He has been coaching teams with Harbor SC since 2007.
Kitsap SC meets Harbor SC on Saturday night in its first preseason friendly of the 2017 season at Bremerton’s Gordon Field at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and season ticket holders get in free.
