BREMERTON, Wash. — The Kitsap Pumas have finalized their coaching staff for their sophomore season in the National Premier Soccer League.
Kelvin Galvez was hired as an assistant coach for the 2018 season, serving under new head coach Liviu Bird. Shannon Matthews was hired as an assistant coach/goalkeeper coach.
Galvez, a native Peruvian, is the head coach for the Auburn High School boys soccer team, as well as a youth coach for the Rainier Valley Slammers in the Auburn Youth Soccer Association.
Galvez also has been an assistant coach for Levante FC Las Planas in Barcelona, Spain. He also earned coaching credentials at the MBP School of Coaches in Barcelona.
Matthews currently coaches for Seattle United, and he previously was the goalkeeper coach for the OSA FC academy in Tukwila.
The Pumas hired Bird as head coach in September 2017 after he’d spent the 2017 season as associate head coach and the 2016 season as assistant coach. He’s also played for the Pumas in 2009 and 2012.
